Back to the future…
Over the years, my camera has connected to my eyes; especially nowadays when you can see other people’s work and say “wow”, in addition to carry your camera phone for a quick snap shot. Not always can you take all the gear for a full studio session. Sometimes you have to do your best with what you have at hand. Sure props and planned concepts are super nice, but nothing beats being spontaneous and “natural”. Being able to capture the beauty of the moment, in this case the beauty in the moment.
For this task I asked the ever lovely Lizandra Solorio to join me and shoot at natural light in a natural setting. Minimalism and texture were of essence however some of the photos came out –in my opinion- great without editing. The photo here shown has a process of filters, but nothing out of the ordinary. Let’s face it. Liz is beautiful.
You may wonder why, I asked myself the same question. I love this style and personally I want to do more like this. IF you or anyone you may know would like a shoot like this please let me know.
The hows and where’s no need to worry. How easy, be yourself, where, easy, anywhere. This particular photos was taken at one of the East Bay Regional Parks. In Hayward, CA.
Good for family, engagement and single portraits.
Thank you very much.
PD Your comments are greatly appreciated.
Obviously it is almost impossible to cover all areas of photography, due mainly to time, style, finances, personal choice, and training. Personally I (#riggalvez #photorigstudio) cover the following type:

- Architecture, Real State: The art of making property appear attractive. Often involves panoramic photography.
- Artistic: Photography in which creative composition is the goal.

My name is Rigoberto , but most people call me “Rig”. I know most photographers write their information in third person, however I felt that writing as I, would be better in this case. Worst case scenario, I can always change it, if I get any complaints.
Now, who am I? A poor little boy from Tijuana? What rock did I crawl out under? How come you never heard about me? Did I miss my mission or calling in life from being a comedian?
Well, for the record, I studied Technical Art and Graphics in college way back when before the Macintosh made it’s intro into the graphics world. Photography was a prerequisite and was something I truly enjoyed since been a kid. Working in the dark room was something special for me.
Later on I changed my major to Mass Communication, with intentions of getting into photojournalism. But my hopes and dreams faded as I got married at such a young age, so it was time to go to work. I remember taking pictures of crying babies at the mall on weekends, that’s when I discovered my true passion for photography, as I truly enjoyed the whole process.
As time progressed, I was the type of person who was always involved in organizing events, big and small so I decided to get into becoming a disc jockey, to generate more money to pay for my own schooling.
I started working in the event industry in 1985, on a part time basis, but in 2007 I lost my regular job, with three children under my belt, there was no time to waste and went in full force, doing the DJ and the Photography, whichever came first. In 2010 I added the video at a smaller scale. My multimedia schooling and training started to pay off, and I started to make a living doing the things that I love most: Multimedia in Audio and Visual Communication.
I understand this is a big chunk of information about how I came to do what I do, however I believe it is important, that you know, where I’m coming from and what I can bring to the table.
Experience is by far the most important asset to be considered, as well as responsibility and trust. Talent is very important but without the foundation of having “the know how’s”, it becomes unfruitful. There are many practitioners out on the field who are great picture takers of landscapes, bridges, who haven’t dealt with different personalities, nor the pressures of running an event of such magnitude, in addition to dealing with all of the different technical aspects of the documentary.
When you hire someone with my experience and technical abilities, in addition to bringing over $25,000 worth of equipment to work for you, you are bringing peace of mind that the job will get done, not only well, but in a timely and responsible fashion.
Am I the “cheapest” guy in town? Perhaps I am not, Without a doubt, there are more “affordable” guys out there, but those “priceless” moments you want to capture and archive, can’t be left on the hands of people hired on the pure lowest bottom line price necessity. Notice I am not even mentioning on how some of those folks will treat or deal with your guests. My crew and I are professionals, who understand the concept of time and space during any particular situation involving a major event.
In almost thirty years not once have I seen or performed at two identical events. The dynamics involving each case are so unique, like a fingerprint. The similarities are endless; by the same token each event comes with its own uniqueness and originality. Knowing how to handle it is the key to a successful event.
Dates come and go. Right now you may be in the planning stages; tomorrow you may be looking at your DVD or photo album, looking back at your best moments of your life.
There are only 52 weekends per year on the calendar. Someone is having a celebration on each and every single one of those 52 Saturdays.
I operate on a “first-come, first-serve” policy. My devotion or dedication is to those who hire my services. Sometimes I get two or three calls for the same date. As rule of thumb, I try to book the first one; however that doesn’t always work, because some take longer to decide than others.
I urge you to consider hiring me for your event, so we can gladly work on the details of your event. You may do so, by clicking on my contact form.
In the event you decide, my body of work is not the formula you envision, or it just doesn’t fit your style, no worries. My desire is that you find the appropriate individual to fulfill your needs. There will always be future opportunities to work together.
Now with no further delay, I invite you browse through the rest of my website.
